The Buddy Program

Sign up Now

Interested in having your child have a big buddy/mentor? Click on the buttons below to view the big buddies. Then have your child fill out the questionnaire. Care4publichealth will then send an email for the next steps, including choosing the big buddy and planning a "trial session" with them.

What

Through fun chats with their big buddies, their mentors, little buddies will have someone they can look up to, trust, and ask all sorts of questions to.

The goal of this system is NOT to create a tutor and student dynamic between the big and little buddy, but rather just a friendship. Big buddies will help little buddies adjust to their school and the experiences they encounter by sharing their own experiences and lessons they learned from them.

Why

Mental health isn’t new. Mental health isn’t old. Mental health is in the present.

We believe that everyone needs support, love, and care, no matter the person's age and situation. And we believe that this program will effectively achieve this. Through an exchange of honesty and sincere advice for the little buddies,  this program will improve not only improve little buddies' emotional well-being but also the big buddies' perspective of the world.

Logistics

Big buddies and little buddies will meet virtually via Zoom.  Little buddies can choose how frequently they want to meet up with their big buddies. Specific timings will be worked out by the big and little buddies.

Big buddies will prepare fun and lively activities, such as:

- Online games

- Motivational youtube videos

- Engaging Ted Talks

- Critical thinking discussions

- Time management tips

- Academic resources e.g. websites, textbooks, tutoring if wanted

- Stress-relieving tips

- Their own experiences and stories

- Simple chats!

Parents are welcome to talk to the big buddy and take part in planning the "lesson plan."
